Interior Renovation of a 675 SQFT two-bedroom unit located within a Co-Op building in the Boerum Hill neighborhood of Brooklyn NY. The unit is 1 of 25 units that make up the five-story building built in 1912. The project was a complete modernization of the existing space which began with the reimagining of the segmented program. The result was a complete gut renovation and reconfiguring of the bathroom and kitchen that created an open floor plan while resembling a loft-like appearance. This lofty feel was reinforced by exposing columns and brick in specific areas as well as replacing certain windows and doors with more appropriate sizes and appearances. All new appliances, fixtures, and materials were also selected and chosen based on the same intent: a clean look, and the promotion of positive moods per space. A lot of thought was then put into developing unused space into storage areas to avoid and decrease clutter that could occur with an open plan concept. This can be seen in the hallway which hid an attic-like storage space above a coffered ceiling accessible within the recessed portions of the design. This space also doubled as the audio/video hub for the apartment.
